Old Bat Courier Service

It’s a neat 100k Audax ride between my house and my daughter’s house in Bristol. She needed some stuff for a walking trip to the Alps so I decided to ride up there with it.

I left home on the Dawes Galaxy tourer, with loaded panniers, in warm, dry, windless weather and headed upwards out of Dorset via Windwhistle Hill

and down into Somerset, crossing the A303 at South Petherton and on to Martock and Somerton.

The intricacies of Audax

Audax United Kingdom is the internationally recognised long-distance cycling association in the UK.

Usually referred to as Audax UK or AUK, it was established in 1976. AUK oversees the running of long-distance cycling events in the UK, and, using a system of timed checkpoints, validates and records every successful ride.

So far quite straightforward.
