On the August Bank holiday weekend we headed down to Penzance for the Cornish Sea Kayaking Meet organised by Richard Uren of Paddlecrest Coaching.
The area around Lands End is a magnificent coastline for sea kayaking. There are many small coves to launch and recover from, with varying degrees of effort.
On the Friday evening we went to the Minack Theatre and on the Saturday we had a great view of the theatre set into the cliffs at Porthcurno from the sea.
The wonderful beach at Pednvounder is very Mediterranean and can be very calm but on this occasion there was huge, mean surf,
which some people took an opportunity to play in!
The cliff scenery is very spectacular including the famous Logan Rock.
Getting in amongst the rocks can be quite exciting.
Away from the headlands the water was quite benign and gave an opportunity to admire the magnificent coastal scenery.
Though some preferred to have closer encounters with the rocks.
When coming into land the fairly benign swell becomes surf and needs careful timing to avoid a swim. Some are more successful than others.
Although there were very few people out on the water there were many thousands enjoying the holiday weekend at Kynance Cove.
