I joined Egdon Heath Harriers running club in 1989.
With a young family, time was at a premium and running was the easiest way to get some exercise and keep fit. I was a keen runner and ran 30 to 40 miles a week, with regular racing up until 2011. I have always done most of my training off road, taken notice of niggles and rested injuries and had remained largely injury free. In 2011 both my knees started to give notice that they had had enough, so I began to cycle and swim more than run and soon I became a keen cyclist with running taking a back seat. As a result of this my enhanced quads protect my knees and I now find I can run pain free. I have no aspirations to return to regular training and racing but I do still love going out for a gentle jog along the wonderful coast path and the countryside which is on my doorstep.
