I live very close to the sea on the Jurassic Coast. Last night a few friends and I took advantage of the calm summer weather and swam the 2.5km from Charmouth to Lyme Regis.
We assembled at Charmouth and set off, hoping the tidal flow was going our way.
It’s important to establish a steady rhythm and keep your mind away from killer whales and jellyfish.
There is an awareness of your buddies whilst swimming and progress is measured by the slowly changing scenery on Black Ven.
We had set off at low water and as we closed on Lyme Regis we had to walk over a band of rock, before swimming the last 800m or so to the beach.
We had a lovely evening on the beach afterwards and just got away before a thunderstorm.
