Sardinia – Day 6

Our last day cycling in SW Sardinia started off with a few kilometres of main road. Italian drivers actually seemed pleased to see us giving a friendly beep and a wide berth.

We were soon off the main road and on another off road adventure through a forest heading for the coastal plains of the Costa Del Sud.

The coast is rocky with many small coves some of which are only accessible by boat but in places the road comes right down to the sea.

The coast road is scenic. In Audax circles this means it is hilly. The undulations were constant but apart from one group of motorbikes there was no traffic and we were able to relax and enjoy the wonderful coastal scenery from our bikes.

Sardinia – Day 5

Our overnight stop was in downtown Calasetta on the Island of Saint Antioco. We headed out of town through the narrow streets following the coastline.

We cycled around the Southern end of the Island. The roads in Sardinia are very quiet most of the time and in February we had the place to ourselves.
