We hadn’t intended to walk all the way to Courmayer on Day 4 and as our onward accommodation was booked we were ‘forced’ to have a rest day in Courmayer at the Hotel Crampon.

Our rest day coincided with the Grand Depart of the Tour de France from Leeds in Yorkshire, so we spent the afternoon horizontal, drinking beer and eating crisps watching the TDF taking place in England. This being Italy we were also forced to eat pizza, because that is the law!
